Product Description

The Viennese Operabal (Opera Ball) will be performed in 2016 for the 60th time. Originally, this happened around 1815 in various ways and with various interruptions. However, annually since 1956, the Viennese State Opera has performed the Operabal. This is traditionally done on the last Thursday before Ash Wednesday. In view of this Austria has issued a beautiful special 20 Euro coin. The Austrian coins are characterized by their details and a special additional feature of this coin is that it is, for the first time, coloured. On the face of the coin there is a Debutant pair. The bouquet that the debutant Lady holds in her hand is coloured in the colour of raspberries. The debutants gentleman kisses her hand. In the background of the coin the building of the Vienna State Opera is pictured. At the top of the coin the name of the Republic of Oesterreich is displayed along with the value of the coin, being 20 Euro. At the bottom of the coin is the text æWiener OpernballÆ and the year 2016. On the reverse of the coin the "Committee of Young Men and Women: are shown entering the State Opera Ballroom. In the background you will see the boxes of the State Opera.
