Product Description
In the year 1817 the University of Liège was founded by King Willem I with his former Minister of Education Anton Reinhard Falck. To date, the University of Liège is a university of significance and has approximately 20,000 students. Originally the University was situated in the city on the River Maas, but today the faculties are distributed across various buildings. 2017 is the 200th anniversary of the founding of the University of Liège. To commemorate this a special 2 Euro coin has been issued. On the coin is the logo of the University of Liège. This logo is coloured according to the official logo of the University of Liège. On the left side of the logo is the year 1817, and on the right of the logo is the year 2017. Circled around the logo is the French text 200 Ans Université de Liège and the English text 200 years University of Liège. The text and the years are coloured yellow, red and black which are the national colours of Belgium. At the bottom of the coin are the letters æBEÆ which is the abbreviati on of Belgium.
