Product Description
100 years ago the First World War was in full swing. The Belgian population suffered a major famine. Other countries could not stand for this and a Humanitarian Aid Organization was set up to provide the Belgian people with food. This organization was called Commission for Relief in Belgium. The former United States President Herbert Clark Hoover was one of the founders of this organization. Large quantities of food were shipped to Belgium which was often hampered by the German occupier. On the face of the coin is an image of Herbert Hoover. In addition a kneeling mother with her hungry children are depicted. In addition the text is called æThe Commission for Relief in BelgiumÆ is shown. On the reverse of the coin is a map of Europe with its 12 stars. Furthermore, on the left side of the coin, is the value of 20 Euro and the year 2016. The country name of Belgium is represented in its three official languages (French, Dutch and German). The coin is presented in a luxury wooden package and is supplied with a certificate.
