Product Description

Traditions play an important part in the Baltic States. An example of this is St. Cazimir's day in Lithuania. Saint Cazimir died on March 4 and around this date a major folklore festival is organized in Lithuania, especially in the capital of Vilnius. This involves music and dance, and old crafts are displayed. In addition there are various hand-made crafts made in the cold, dark Lithuanian winters. In addition brightly coloured dry bouquets are burned on Palm Sunday. (Not all because we brought a number of them home!) On the face of the coin is an image of Saint Cazimir on his horse. The value of 1.5 Euro and the year 2017 are also shown. On the reverse of the coin are the skilfully hand-made items sold in the market. On both sides of the coin the images are contained in a heart-shape which refers especially to St. Cazimir's day when home-made cakes in the form of a heart are eaten.
