Luxemburg BU 2017

The theme of the BU set 2017 of Luxembourg is Esch sur Alzette. This is the sixth set from the Luxembourg series of BU sets that have the theme of a Luxembourg city. Esch sur Alzette is the second largest city in Luxembourg with a population of approximately 35,000. It is located in the far south of Luxembourg on the river Alzette. Esch sur Alzette was known for her iron industry which was mined in the Gaalgebierg region. The steel mills were closed a few decades ago and the steel was then imported. The first inhabitants lived more than 5,000 years ago in Esch sur Alzette and the city has about 800 years of city rights.
