Austria 25 Euro 2017 Microcosm

Since 2003 Austria has issued a special coin worth 25 Euro, the core of the coin is Niobium. The theme of the 2017 coin is the Microcosm, which means the World in Miniature. In ancient times magnifying glasses were used to study small things. In the 17th century Antoni van Leeuwenhoek discovered the microscope and discovered bacteria. In the last century the electron microscope was invented which could magnify by 12,000! It is amazing how today's developments are continuing in the field of Microcosm. The inside of the coin is made from the metal Niobium and the colour is a combination of raspberry red and grass green. On the face of the coin there is a butterfly with spread wings. Furthermore there is a nuclear symbol and a molecular chain. Around the outer ring of the coin one sees parts of the butterfly wing not enlarged, enlarged under a microscope, and enlarged under an electron microscope and finally one sees only a cell with a core. The value of 25 Euro and the year 2017 is also seen on the front of the coin. On the back of the coin one sees a stray egg, a molecule and a bee placed in a hexagon.
