Each member of the Euro zone may change its coins after 15 years. San Marino is the first Euroland to take advantage of this possibility and the coins of San Marino 2017 are completely different to the San Marino Euro coins of 2002 to 2016. The 1 cent coin shows the crest of San Marino. The 2 cent coin displays the City Gate and on the 5 cent coin you see an image of the Church of the Capuchin Friars. On the 10 cent coin the facade of the church of Saint Francis is shown, and on the 20 cent coin you can see the three famous towers of San Marino. On the 50 cent coin one sees Saint Marino according to a detail of the painting by the artist Retrosi. The 1 Euro coin shows the second tower, the middle of three famous towers. On the 2 Euro coin is another image of Saint Marino which is a detail from a painting by the artist Urbinelli. The coins are packed in a luxury package the front of which shows the detail of Saint Marino from the painting by Urbinelli, as displayed on the 2 Euro coin.
