Product Description
The fifth coin from the series of Austrian coins with the theme of the Animals of the Night is "Wolf" (Canis Lupus). The wolf, in its different species such as the Polar Bear, was originally found throughout the world. To humans the wolf has a bad name, yet wolves generally shy away from people. Wolves are often found in "packs" (groups). Wolves have not been found in Belgium or the Netherlands for several hundreds of years, but recently they have returned from Germany towards the west. On the coin, in the foreground, a grey-coloured howling wolf is depicted. This lights up in the dark! In the background, in a forest, a wolf howling at the moon is shown. Originally the wolf hunted during the day and at dusk, but, because the wolf itself became the prey, it has become a nocturnal creature. On the coin the year 2017 appears on the left and the name WOLF at the bottom. The special thing about this series of coins is that they light up in the dark! The reverse of this series of coins is the same. In the centre t he 12 animals of this series of coins are represented. At the top of the coin is the country name Republik Oesterreich (Republic of Austria) and at the bottom of the coin the value indication of 3 Euro is shown.
