Finland 20 Euro 2018 Topelius

In Finland Topelius (14.01.1818 - 12.03.1898) is considered, to date, the most influential cultural figure from the 19th century. Topelius was Swedish-speaking! He was a master storyteller and a famous lyricist and wrote several Christmas songs. He was not only a novelist and poet but also rector at the University of Helsinki. In memory of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Topelius, Finland has issued a special 20 Euro coin. On the face of the coin Topelius is portrayed along with two sparrows. The sparrows occurred in various stories of his works. On the left side of the coin is his name Zacharias Topelius, his birth year 1818 and 1898 the year of his death. The value indication of 20 Euro is also shown. On the reverse of the coin is a reference to the fairy tale "Koivu ja tähti", the Birch and the Star. Furthermore, the year 2018 and the country name Suomi (Finnish) and Finland (Swedish) are shown. The coin is packaged in a coin capsule which is mounted in a Birch wood packaging. A certificate of authen ticity is also included with this beautiful coin. In general the 20 Euro coin is the same as the 10 Euro coin. However, the size and weight of the 20 Euro coin clearly differs from the 10 Euro coin. A Finnish 20 Euro coin has a diameter of no less than four centimetres and weighs more than 25 grams. The issue of this 20 Euro coin is only 4,000 copies!
