Andorra 2 Euro 2017 Pyrenees Country

This is the 2017 special 2 Euro coin from Andorra which has the country of Andorra as its theme. The Principality of Andorra has existed since the year 988 and has been an independent country since 1278. The special thing is that it is a Diarchy, it is headed by two co-princes, the Bishop of Urgell and the President of France. The Pyrenees is a large mountain range in southwestern Europe with peaks of over 3,000 metres. They form the boundary between France and Spain and in these mountains the mini-state of Andorra can be found. The country is about 500 sq.km. in size and has a total of about 80,000 inhabitants. The country officially uses the Euro and since the year 2014 has issued its own Euro coins. This special 2 Euro coin of the year 2017 presents Andorra as its own country with its own special 2 Euro coin. At the top of the coin is a triangle of three wavy strips. These three strips roughly represent the country of Andorra which is also triangular. Under this triangle the country name Andorra is shown a long with a little text in its own language "El Pais dels Pirineus" (The Pyrenees Country). At the bottom of the coin is the year 2017. The coin is mounted in a numbered luxury package, and the circulation of this coin is only 85,000 copies.
