Product Description

On June 1, 1816, Emperor Franz I then issued two patents that were considered documents of the Austrian National Bank. In commemoration of the fact that, in 2016, the Austrian National Bank celebrates 200 years of existence, Austria has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the coin you can see the façade of the Austrian National Bank which is built in the Neoclassical style. From the upper part of this façade two mythological figures are highlighted on the face of the coin. To the left is Mercury, the guardian angel of merchants and traders. To the right of Mercury is the goddess Fortuna with a cornucopia (horn of plenty) in her hand. At the top of the coin is the country name Republik Oesterreich, while at the bottom of the coin the text "200 Jahre Oesterreichische Nationalbank" is displayed. Furthermore, on the left side of the coin is the year 1816. Below this in a larger size the year 2016 is shown in greater detail. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated) and the issue of this coin is 16,000,000 copies.
