Product Description

In the year 1842 the world-renowned Symphony Orchestra "the Wiener Philharmoniker" (Vienna Philharmonic) was founded. The founders were Otto Nicolai, August Schmidt and Alfred Julius Becher. It is very difficult to join the Wiener Philharmoniker because, since its inception, the orchestra's characteristic has been that all decisions have been taken democratically by the orchestra members. To celebrate the fact that in 2017 the Vienna Philharmonic was founded exactly 175 years ago, Austria has issued a beautiful coin with a nominal value of 20 Euro. On the face of the coin is an image of the three founders Nicolai, Schmidt and Becher. In the background is a fragment of the founding act. In addition, the logo of the Wiener Philharmoniker is shown in gold. The years 1842 and 1917 are also shown. On the left side of the coin the value of 20 Euro is printed along with the name Republik Oesterreich (Republic of Austria). On the reverse of the coin is a fragment of the oil painting "The Philharmoniker" painted by Max Oppenheimer. This painting can be found in the Belvedere Museum in Vienna. This fragment shows a number of musicians playing their instruments. On the left side of the coin is the text "175 Jahre Wiener Philharmoniker". The coin is presented in a luxury package and is supplied with a numbered certificate.
