Guust Flater: Who does not know him! At least the 40 plus people reading this. Guust Flater is a cartoon figure that originated in 1957 and in 2017 this cartoon figure has existed for 60 years. Guust (Gaston in French) Flater works in the comic strip of the editors of the æRobbedoesÆ comic strip. Guust works as a mail sorter and hates one thing û Work! If he does not sleep he puts his mind to bizarre experiments that get out of hand. Guust responds with his famous statement "Nou moe" (in French M'Enfin) in English æwell tiredÆ. Well-known characters from the Guust Flater strips are Kwabbernoot and Pruimpit (his bosses), customer Mr. Demesmaeker and Agent Vondelaar. His famous car is the Fiat 509 and not forgetting his musical instrument the Flaterfoon. Because it's 60 years since this strip originated Belgium has issued a special 5 euro coin. On the face of the coin is a picture of Guust Flater with its famous French pronunciation M'Enfin (Nou Moe), along with the number 60. On the reverse of the coin is the map of Europe to the left of which are the 12 stars of Europe and the mint marks. On the right side of the coin is the country name Belgium in its three official languages û French, Dutch and German. The coin is presented as a funny birthday card on the front of which Guust Flater is depicted in his characteristic attitude. Further information about the coin is shown on the back of the card.
