Cyprus 2 Euro 2015 Normal

On this regular Cypriot 2 Euro coin 2015 is an image of the Idol of Pomos. The idol of Pomos is a copper statue found in Pomos which is in western Cyprus. The statue is about 5,000 years old. It's a figurine of a human that keeps his arms apart. It is believed that it was a symbol of fertility. Because it is a typical example of ancient Cypriot art this statue is seen on the 2 Euro coins of Cyprus. Incidentally, the figurine is also shown on the Cypriot 1 Euro coins. As well as the image of the Idol of Pomos, on the left top of the coin is the country Cyprus in Greek and on the top right in Turkish. In the centre is the year 2015. In the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe.
