Product Description

In the context of the series of coins with the theme of Finnish Culture, the theme of the special 20 Euro coin of 2018 is the Sami. Sami or Samen is a population group living in the north of four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. They should not be compared to Lapps, they prefer not to be confused with them. The Sami culture is an ancient culture. In the old days people used to keep reindeer, and fishing with nets under the ice, was their specialty! The national holiday of the Sami is 6 February. The coin is designed by an artist who is herself a Sami. There are about 10,000 Sami's living in Finland. On the face of the coin a number of fish along with construction works are cryptically depicted. Furthermore, the text "The Finnish Culture" is seen both in Finnish and Swedish. At the bottom of the coin is the year 2018. On the reverse of the coin is the sun. After a long polar night, it is always an emotional moment for the Sami to see that the sun comes up again after months. Furthermore, there are a number of triangles representing the traditional tents of the Sami. Additionally, the country name Finland / Suomi in Finnish and Swedish and the value indication of 20 Euro are shown. The coin is presented in a luxurious birch wood packaging and is delivered with a certificate. As far as the implementation is concerned, this coin is very similar to the corresponding 10 Euro coin. The difference, however, is that this coin is much larger in size and of course also a much heavier weight. This coin is also presented in the luxury birch wood packaging and is delivered with a certificate. It is remarkable that the circulation of this coin is only 4,000 copies!
