Finland 20 Euro 2018 Sami

In the context of the series of coins with the theme of Finnish Culture, the theme of the special 20 Euro coin of 2018 is the Sami. Sami or Samen is a population group living in the north of four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. They should not be compared to Lapps, they prefer not to be confused with them. The Sami culture is an ancient culture. In the old days people used to keep reindeer, and fishing with nets under the ice, was their specialty! The national holiday of the Sami is 6 February. The difference, however, is that this coin is much larger in size and of course also a much heavier weight.
