Product Description

This is the eighth and final coin of the Finnish Presidents series. Finland has more presidents, but it is common for only deceased persons to be shown on a coin (except Kings and Queens). The eighth Finnish president was æUrho Kaleva KekkonenÆ (1900 - 1986). Kekkonen came from a farming family and was very sporty, he has even been a Finnish High Jump champion. For years he has had the national high-jump record to his name! Kekkonen is the longest-serving president in Finland (1956 to 1981). Kekkonen continued the policy of its predecessor Paasikivi, being neutral û active against Russia and the EU / USA. Finland is not yet a member of NATO. Kekkonen had great power as president, and after his resignation, the power of Finnish presidents became much less. A Finnish President may serve a maximum of two terms. On the face of the coin is an image of Kekkonen and circling it the text æUrho Kaleva KekkonenÆ along with the years 1900 and 1986. The back of this series of presidential coins is the same, denoting a cityscape as seen from an open book. Furthermore, the value of 5 Euro, the year 2017 and the country name Suomi (Finnish) and Finland (Swedish) are shown.
