France 2 Euro 2016 Mitterrand

François Maurice Adrien Marie Mitterrand (1916-1996) is the full name of the famous French Politician Mitterrand. François Mitterrand was President of France from 1981 to 1988. He was a member of the Socialist Party (PS) and was a big advocate of the EU. Shortly after his last term of office, at the age of 79 he died. In the year 2016, it was 100 years since Mitterrand was born and because he meant so much to France, the country has issued a special commemorative 2 euro coin. On the coin, Mitterrand is seen in the typical thinking and attentive listening attitude. At the top of the coin you is his name æFrançois MitterrandÆ and on the left of the coin are the years 1916 and 2016. On the right side of the coin is the personal emblem of Mitterrand being a combination of an oak tree with an olive tree. This logo symbolizes Power and Peace. On the bottom right are the letters RF being the abbreviation of France (Republic of France). In the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe.
