Product Description

Germany issues a special 2 Euro coin each year with a famous or well-known building of the subject Bundesland (province). The 11th Bundesland of this series is Sachsen (Saxony). Saxony is located in the south-east of Germany and borders on Poland and the Czech Republic. The area is approximately 18,000 square kilometres with a population of approximately 4 million. The most well-known cities are Leipzig, Chemnitz and Dresden. Very special is that about 50,000 people speak an ancient Slavic language, Upper and Lower Sorbian. In Dresden one can find the æDresdner ZwingerÆ (a Baroque-style palace). This is the most famous construction of both Dresden and Saxony. On the special coin the famous æKronentorÆ (Crown Tower) is depicted. The Dresdner Zwinger was severely damaged at the end of the second world war but after the war it was restored as quickly as possible.German coins are always struck at five mints indicated on the coins by different mint letters which are, A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karl sruhe and J = Hamburg. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated). This coin is beautifully coloured, both the Dresdner Zwinger and the fountains are perfectly displayed on this specially coloured 2 Euro coin. The German coins are struck in five different places. This series of 5 coins from the five mints are perfectly coloured. The mint letter cannot be seen on the image, but it is at the top right of the coin at about 2 oÆclock. The letter "D" at the bottom of the coins is the abbreviation of the country name Deutschland (Germany).
