Product Description

This is the fifth coin from the series of coins that have the theme of the fairy tales of the brothers Grimm. It is also the first silver coin with a nominal value of 20 Euro which Germany has issued. From the year 2002 to the year 2015 coins with a nominal value of 10 Euro were issued in Germany. In recent years these coins were of cupro-nickel. Because many German collectors prefer silver coins the issue of silver coins has resumed. Because silver is more expensive only a higher nominal value could be issued. This fifth coin from the fairy tale series has the theme Red Riding Hood. This fairy tale does not require further explanation. On the face of the coin are two houses between which is the path where Red Riding Hood meets the Wolf. In the background you can see the dark forest with the interlaced branches. At the top of the coin the name Rotkäppchen (literally Little red Cap) is shown and at the bottom of the coin is the text æGrimms MärchenÆ (Grimms Fairy Tales). On reverse of the coin the German Eagle is depicted in perfect harmony with the trees on the face. At the top of the coin is the country name of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany). The coin is minted in Berlin. This is indicated by the letter "A" to the left of the Eagle. The 12 European stars are always displayed differently in German coins. At the bottom of this coin are three stars followed by the year 2016 followed by three more stars. Then comes the value of 20 Euro followed by the other 6 stars. The quality of the coin silver is shown on the right side of the coin (925 Silber). This means that the currency is 92.5% of Silver and 7.5% of copper. The text æUND LAUF NICHT VOM WEG ABÆ (And do not run from the way) is inscribed around the edge of the coin. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated) and it is packaged in a printed coin holder.
