Greece 10 Euro 2018 Herodotus

This special 2018 Greek 10 Euro coin belongs to the series of coins that have as their theme the ancient Greek culture. The subject of this 10 Euro 2018 coin is "Herodotus". Written in full his name is æHerodotus of HalicarnassusÆ. He lived about 450 years before the common era (formerly denoted as BC). He came from a prominent family of his time. Herodotus went travelling and visited a large number of well-known countries of that time. He settled in a Greek colony in southern Italy where he wrote his famous life's work "The Histories". This work, the Histories, is a combination of the stories of a traveller supplemented with a piece of history and is considered the most extensive work of the Greek Prose of that time. Herodotus is thus regarded as the "Father of the History". On the face of the coin is a portrait of Herodotus looking head-on.
