Greece 6 Euro 2017 Sustainable Tourism

This special Greek coin has a special nominal value of 6 Euro. It is the second time that Greece has issued a 6 Euro coin. The theme of the coin is æInternational Sustainable TourismÆ. The United Nations has declared the year 2017 as the year of International Sustainable Tourism. Earlier this year San Marino released a special 2 Euro coin with the same theme! In short, sustainable tourism means that people who are on holiday take the local population and the environment into account as much as possible. People use as many sustainable products as possible from this local population. On the face of the coin is a globe. On this globe are a few houses and a tree that appears to grow out of the Earth. On the reverse of the coin are two hands along with a number of leaves. The image looks like a tree. In the centre of the coin the coat of arms of Greece is depicted. At the bottom of the coin are the value indication of 6 Euro and the year 2017. In a circle is Greek text which translates to "International year of sustainable tourism for development". The coin is presented in a luxury package and is supplied with a certificate.
