Product Description

The fifth coin from the series of Dutch special 5 Euro coins with the topic World Heritage has the theme of the Wadden Sea. In the meantime, the entire Wadden Sea from the Netherlands to Denmark is on the UNESCO World Heritage List The characteristic of the Wadden Sea is that it becomes dry at ebb. The Wadden Sea is the largest contiguous tide system in the world and stretches across the coasts of three countries: the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. It is a beautiful habitat for millions of animals. On the coin the characteristic aspects of the Wadden Sea are depicted. At the bottom of the coin are the series of inhabited Wadden Islands from Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. There is also a cormorant, a starfish and a gull. At the top of the coin is the text "De Waddenzee" (the Wadden Sea) which is in a font used on old sea charts. The value of 5 Euro is shown at the bottom left with the Dutch mint-master mark. This star indicates that the job of Muntmeester (mint-master) is vacant. King Willem Alexander is shown twice on the reverse of the coin, these are a large image and a small silhouette along with the text æWillem Alexander King of the NetherlandsÆ in the Dutch language. Additionally the Royal Coat of Arms is shown. The quality of this coin is Silver-Proof. This silver coin is a very different size than the coins in the quality UNC and BU.
