Netherlands 10 Euro 2017 Birthdaycoin First day of Issue

King Willem Alexander was born on April 27 1967. In the year 2017 he celebrates his 50th birthday and in order to commemorate this a special 10 Euro coin has been issued, the so-called birthday coin. Normally commemorative coins have a nominal value of 5 Euro, however, if a coin has a Royal theme the nominal value is higher which in this case is 10 Euro. Both on the image side and the value side of the coin are unique, interlocking and overlapping ribbons. In addition, you will see the King Willem Alexander's key words on the coin, representing, combining and encouraging. The connection is further expressed in the shape of the sailorÆs knot in the centre of the coin. On the image side is the stately face of King Willem Alexander with the text Willem Alexander 50 Years and King of the Netherlands. On the value side of the coin we see the key words Represent, Unite and Encourage. At the bottom of the coin is the value of 10 Euro and on the right of the coin the year 2017 is shown in small text. The first striki ng of the Royal 10 Euro was done on Monday April 24 2017 by the Mayor of Utrecht, Mr. Jan van Zanen. At that time, the first day of issue was available for a period of 12 hours.
