Product Description

The Dutch Red Cross was founded on July 19, 1867. King William III signed in Apeldoorn the Royal Decree Establishing a Dutch Association for Assistance to Ill and Wounded Warriors in Time of War, this association became the Dutch Red Cross. In 2017 it is 150 years since the Dutch Red Cross was founded. To commemorate this a special coin has been issued û The æRed Cross FiveÆ. The Red Cross is neutral so does not choose sides. The special thing about this coin is that the obverse and the reverse are the exactly same, so it also does not choose sides! It is for the first time that a Dutch Euro coin has no specific face or reverse. On the coin is a globe filled with interlocking crosses. These are coloured red, white and blue. One cross stands out û The Bright Red Cross! At the bottom of the coin is an image of King Willem Alexander perfectly coloured. In the outer ring of the coin, at the top, is the text æ150 Years Dutch Red CrossÆ. This text is red, white and blue coloured. On the left in red the value of 5 Euro is indicated and on the right is the year 2017 in blue. At the bottom is the orange text æWillem Alexander Koning der Nederland. The coin is packed in a coin capsule.
