Product Description

This is the Dutch 5 Euro 2017 Red Cross, first Day of Issue. The Dutch Red Cross was founded on July 19, 1867. King William III signed, in Apeldoorn, the Royal Decree establishing a Dutch association to give assistance to the sick and wounded warriors in times of war. In the year 2017 it is 150 years since the Dutch Red Cross was founded. To commemorate this a special coin has been issued: The Red Cross Five. The Red Cross is neutral and does not choose sides. The special thing about this coin is that the front and the back are the same, they do not choose sides! It is the first time that a Dutch Euro coin has no front or back. On the coin a tilted globe with a locking system of crosses is displayed. This represents the unity and solidarity of the global Red Cross. At the bottom of the coin you can see a picture of King Willem Alexander. The outer ring of the coin shows the text 150 Years Dutch Red Cross at the top. On the left you can see the value of 5 Euro and on the right the year and the coin signs. At t he bottom you can see the text Willem Alexander Koning der Nederland. This First Day of Issue was available only on June 10, 2017, the issue date of the Red Cross Five. On the front of the coincard it is clearly indicated that this is a limited edition. The back of the coincard has a unique number. The coincard is presented in a small envelope bearing the date of issue of 10 June 2017.
