Italy 2 Euro 2016 Donatello Coloured

Italy has issued a special 2 Euro coin with the subject æDonatelloÆ. In 2016 it was 550 years since the famous Italian sculptor Donatello died. Donatello worked almost all his life in Florence and was a favourite of the influential Medici Family. On the coin is Donatello's head of David. This image is in the Bargello Museum in Florence. The coin is very beautifully coloured, with the head as far as possible the colours of the original statue. Furthermore, the green laurel wreath stands out, and the typical distinctive colours of Italy, red and green, come to the fore on this beautifully coloured coin. DonatelloÆs David looks to the right on the coin and on the left side of the coin are the year of death (1466) of Donatello and the year of the coin (2016). At the bottom of the coin, in capital letters, the name æDonatelloÆ is coloured red.
