Product Description
The present Luxembourg has existed since the year 1815. In 1817 the first army of Luxembourg was established. On June 29 1967 the army structure was transformed into a voluntary army. The Luxembourg volunteer army consists of more than 1,000 soldiers. There are no Air Force or Navy. In the year 2017, it is 50 years since the voluntary Luxembourg army was set up. To commemorate this, Luxembourg has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the coin, in the Luxembourg language you can see the text æ50 Joar Freiwellegen ArmeiÆ with the logo of the Luxembourg army printed in the letter æOÆ of the word Joar. The coin is coloured according to the national colours of Luxembourg, which are red, white and light blue supplemented with yellow. It is extremely clever that the crest of the Luxembourg army could be perfectly coloured. In addition, a coloured image of Grand Duke Henri (Hendrik) is shown to the right. At the top of the coin is the year 2017 with the Dutch mint signs. At the bottom of the coin is the country name Letzebuerg (Luxembourg).
