Product Description

On February 19, 1817 William III (In French Guillaume III) was born. He was from March 17, 1949 until his day of death on November 23, 1890 Grand Duke of Luxembourg and King of the Netherlands. The Luxembourg Constitution stated that only male successors could be Grand Duke. William III only had the later Queen Wilhelmina as his successor, and since 1890 another branch succeeded William III . In the year 2017 it was 200 years since Willem III was born, and Luxembourg commemorated this with a Coincard holding a special 2 Euro coin. On the right side of the coin is an image of Willem III, with the text Guillaume III and the year 1817. On the left side of the coin Grand Duke Henri is depicted, with his name written vertically. At the top of the coin, also vertically, is the year 2017 and at the bottom of the coin the text æGrand-Ducs du LuxembourgÆ. The coin is in the quality BU and is packaged in a Coincard. On this Coincard the Grand Ducal Palace, the Monogram and the Coat of Arms are pictured. The issue of th is Coincard is only 7,500 copies.
