Malta 2 Euro 2015 Republic of Malta 1974

Malta has officially been a Republic since 1974. The reason for this is that Queen Elizabeth II of the UK is, since 1974, no longer Queen of Malta. From that time Malta officially became a Republic. For this reason Malta has issued a special 2 Euro coin which is the fifth and last special 2 Euro coin in the series with the theme æConstitutional History of MaltaÆ. On the coin is a picture of a marble tablet that is placed on the facade of the Presidential Palace in Valletta, the Maltese capital city. On this tablet the transition from the Monarchy to the Republic is described. At the top of the coin is the country name Malta with the text æRepublic 1974Æ written next to it. At the bottom of the coin is the year 2015. In the outer ring of this special 2 Euro coin are the 12 stars of Europe. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated) and the issue of this coin is a total of 400,000 copies.
