He made works for Napoleon and the later-restored French Monarchy. At a later age he was elevated to nobility (Baron) in honour of his special works. A well-known work by Bosio is the "Quadriga" that can be seen on the Arc de Triomphe. Many works by Bosio can be seen at the Louvre in Paris, including his best-known work the Nymph "Salmacis". In memory of the 250th birthday of François Joseph Bosio, Monaco has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of Bosio together with an image of the Nymph Salmacis. At the top of the coin the country name of Monaco is shown. At the bottom of the coin is his name æFrançois Joseph BosioÆ beneath which is his birth year 1768, the word Sculpteur (sculptor) and the year 2018.
