San Marino 1 Euro 2018

San Marino annually issues a number of separate coins that can be added relatively cheaply to collectors' collections. On the 1 Euro coin the second Tower of San Marino is depicted. The Second Tower of San Marino called Cesta or Fratta was built around 1200/1250 on the remains of an ancient Roman Fort. This fort stood at the highest point of San Marino, Monte Titano, at about 750 metres above sea level. The Adriatic Sea can be clearly seen from the Second Tower. In the year 1925 the tower was restored to its original construction. At the moment the museum of Saint Marino and the Museum of Historical Coats of Arms are housed in the tower. On the coin is an image of the Second Tower of San Marino de Cesta. At the top left of the coin the country name San Marino is shown and on the top right of the coin is the year 2018. In the outer ring of the coins are the 12 stars of Europe. Obviously these coins are legal tender.
