San Marino 2 Euro 2017 Giotto

Giotto de Bondone was a versatile Italian artist. He not only painted but was also a sculptor and a famous architect for his time. One of the most famous works that he designed is the Bell Tower of Florence Cathedral. This tower is entirely of Tuscan marble and is 85 metres high! Giotto was born in 1267, (there are also sources dating from 1266), but it is assumed that 1267 is his birth year. In 2017 it was 750 years ago that Giotto was born and to commemorate this San Marino has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the left half of the coin are Giotto's Birth year (1267) and the year 2017. In addition you will see vertically his name Giotto and the name of San Marino. In between is a fragment of the bell tower of Florence Cathedral. On the right hand side of the coin is an image of Giotto. This special 2 Euro coin is, of course, legal tender and is presented in a luxury package with a magnetic closure.
