Product Description

In this way we meet the wishes of the many collectors who have the motto "I collect coins and not packaging". Jacopo Robusti / Tintoretto (1518-1594) was a famous Italian painter. His father was a dyer which in Italian is æTintoreÆ. Jacopo Robusti was nicknamed Tintoretto, the little dyer. Tintoretto was from the Venetian school and drew much inspiration from Michelangelo. He had a special way of painting in which grey and lighting techniques were emphasized. Tintoretto has painted a large number of masterpieces. In the year 2018 it is 500 years ago that Tintoretto was born and in memory of this San Marino has published a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is a fragment of the painting "Embrace" in which the virgin embraces Maria Elisabeth. This painting hangs in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice. At the top left side of the coin is the country name of San Mario and the name Tintoretto is shown at the bottom of the coin. Above his name are the years 1518 and 2018. The coin is packaged in printed Leuchtturm coin holder. The circulation of this coin is only 60,500 copies and this coin is, naturaly, legal tender.
