Slovakia 10 Euro 2017 Božena Slancíková Timrava

Bozena Slancíková (02-10-1867 - 27-11-1951) was a leading Slovak writer. She wrote under the pseudonym Timseva. Her works originally featured as urban-style stories that fit in the time around the turn of the century between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Her work is characterized by autobiographical elements, character psychology with a mix of critical points of view. She also wrote some less successful plays. In the year 2017 it was 150 years since Bozena Slancíková was born in Polichno. To commemorate this Slovakia has issued a special 10 euro coin. On the face of the coin is an open book with a piece of text from her famous story Tapákovci. Over this lies a typical attribute of a writer û a feather quill. In addition a character from this book, a few animals and a house are depicted. At the top of the coin is the value of 10 Euro, while at the bottom of the coin is the coat of arms of Slovakia, with the Slovensko (Slovak Republic) name and the year 2017. On the reverse of the coin is an image of Bozena Slancíková portrayed over an open book. At the top of the coin is her birth year 1867 and her year of death in 1951. At the bottom of the coin her name Bozena Slancíková, along with her pseudonym Timrava are shown.
