Finland 2 Euro 2015 30 years European Flag
|Theme||30 Jaar Europese Vlag|
|Category||Special 2 euro coins|
In 2015 it is 30 years ago that the Heads of Government of the then EU countries chose the European flag as the official symbol of the European Union. To commemorate this each Euroland will issue a common special 2 Euro coin in the year 2015. The country's name that issued the coin is printed on the coin. The European flag is blue in colour and on the flag are the 12 stars of Europe with the points upward facing. These stars are positioned as to the hours of the clock. The designer of the coin was Greek George Stamatopoulos. This design was the winner of a competition where all Europeans could choose from five coins. In the centre of the coin is the European flag with its 12 stars. Around the flag are 12 people in a circle. The 12 stars show, as it were, that they turn into human figures that represent a new Europe. On the coin you the years 1985 and 2015 are shown. At the top of the coin is the country name in Swedish (Finland) and Finnish (Suomi).
