Product Description

Uno Cygnaeus (1810-1888) is the designer of the Finnish general primary school system. Uno Cygnaeus was a clerical minister and later became a professor. He invented the Finnish public school system introduced in the year 1866. This system is still used in Finland today. Because, in 2016, it was exactly 150 years since the introduction of this Finnish school system Finland has issued a special 20 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is a typical Rooster with an educational baton. There are also a number of typical school symbols within a triangle. The name of the founder of the Finnish School System Uno Cygnaeus is also shown. On the reverse of the coin, in the form of a window, two schoolchildren are looking out of the window. In the four window-panes above the children are the numbers making the date of the year 1866. On the left and at the bottom of the coin, in a 90 degree angle, is the country name Suomi Finland. On the right side of the coin is the value of 20 Euro, while at the top of the coin is the year 2016. The difference between the 10 Euro coin is that the 20 Euro coins are much bigger and heavier than the 10 Euro coins. Furthermore, the value of course is 20 Euro. The coin is presented in a luxury package which is completely different from the packaging of the 10 Euro coin.
