Product Description

This is the first coin of a series of Finnish coins that have the theme of the Finnish Presidents. After Finland became an independent country in 1917, Kaarlo Juho Ståhlberg (1865-1952) became the first president of Finland in 1919. Because it is customary that, apart from heads of state, only deceased persons are depicted on Euro coins, this will be a series of 8 coins for the time being. This first coin (Ståhlberg) will be issued in 2016 and the last coin will be issued in 2017 to coincide with the celebration of 100 years Finland. On these bimetals 5 Euro coins one is an image of K.J. Ståhlberg. He served as president of Finland from 1919 to 1925. This was a turbulent time, in his term of office there were no less than nine government changes. On the reverse of the coin is a cityscape seen as if in open book. The reverse of these coins will be the same for the whole series. The quality of the coin is UNC and the issue is only 30,000 copies.
