Product Description

In 2015 it is exactly 500 years ago that the famous German painter Lucas Cranach Jr. was born. He was the son of Lucas Cranach Sr. The Cranach family had a studio in Wittenberg in Germany and were known as painters and carvers. The works of father and son sometimes seemed so alike that they could hardly ever determine who made the artwork! The characteristic of the works of the Family Cranach is the snake with the wings, crown on the head and a ring in the mouth. On the face of the coin this distinctive snake with its wings is depicted. The text "Lucas Cranach der Jüngere" is also shown. At the bottom of the coin are the dates 1515-1586. On the reverse of the coin the German eagle is portrayed in perfect harmony with the face of the coin in that the wings of the snake and the eagle are executed equally. Furthermore, at the top of the coin is the text "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" with the 12 stars of Europe. At the bottom of the coin is the year 2015. The mint's edge text is "DEM FUERTREFFLICHEN MALER." The co in is minted in Karlsruhe as indicated by the letter "G". The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated). This is the last coin from Germany with a value of € 10. From 2016 the nominal value of the German coins is 20 Euro. The quality is Silver.
