Product Description

Germany issues a special 2 Euro coin each year with a famous or well-known building of the Bundesland (province) in question. The 11th Bundesland of this series is Sachsen (Saxony). Saxony is located in the south-east of Germany and borders on Poland and the Czech Republic. Saxony is approximately 18,000 square kilometres in size with approximately 4 million inhabitants. The most famous cities are Leipzig, Chemnitz and Dresden. Very special is that about 50,000 people from Saxony speak an ancient Slavic language - Upper and Lower Sorbian. In Dresden, one can find the Dresdner Zwinger (Dresden Palace). This is the most famous construction of both Dresden and Saxony. On this special coin the famous Kronentor (Crown Tower) is depicted. The Dresdner Zwinger was severely damaged at the end of the second world but after the war, it was restored as quickly as possible. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated).
