Product Description
Since 2006 Germany has been issuing a series of special 2 Euro coins central to which is a building from a German federal state. Germany has 16 federal states which are called, in German, a Land (plural Länder), similar to a province in the Netherlands (in English a county). The German federal states each have a form of independence. The subject of the 2018 coin is the Land of Berlin. Berlin needs no further explanation. It is remarkable that Berlin as a state has no capital, it is itself a capital. Charlottenburg Palace was chosen as the building for the special 2018 German 2 Euro coin. This castle was built around 1700 by order of Sophie Charlotte. In the Second World War it was almost destroyed and was rebuilt after the Second World War. Charlottenburg Palace is the largest castle in Berlin. On the coin is an image of the front of Charlottenburg Palace. On the left side of the coin is the year 2018. At the bottom of the coin the name Berlin is printed above the letter "D". This letter D indicates the country name Germany. The mint's location can be seen at the top right of the coin. The German coins are struck in five different mints which are represented by a letter. These are A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg. The mint letter can be found at the top right of the coin, at about the 2 o'clock position. At the "6 o'clock" position on all coins is the letter 'D', this is the abbreviation of the country name Deutschland (Germany). The special 2 Euro coins are packed by us in printed coin holders. This manner of packaging ensures that you receive a perfect product from us.
