Greece BU 2016

Peloponesos is the theme of the 2016 Greek BU set. Pelopenesos is Greece's largest peninsula and is located in the south east of Greece. It is approximately 21,000 square kilometres in size and is sparsely populated with just over 1 million inhabitants. Peloponesos is separated from Greece by the canal of Corinth. Peloponesos is well-known from ancient times. The most famous city is Sparta and, of course, Olympia is well-known. Peloponesos has been occupied by various peoples such as the Turks, Venetians, Byzantines and the Romans. Under the regime of Emperor Nero the digging of the Channel of Corinth was begun. This was only completed about 150 years ago. Pelopenesos is now a traditionally agricultural country and there is more and more tourism. The tourists can visit monumental remains and enjoy themselves in the beautiful nature and surroundings. The 2016 Greek BU set comprises the complete set of 2016 Greek Euro coins. The 2016 coins from 20 cents normal 2 Euro will not be brought into circulation, and ar e only packed in this set. The Greek 2016 coins are presented in a beautiful BU set.
