Italy 2 Euro 2015 Dante Coincard
Dante Alighieri was born 800 years ago. To commemorate this, Italy has issued this 2 Euro coin mounted in a Coincard. Dante, together with Boccaccio and Petrarca, had a great influence on the æCultural RenewalÆ in his time. This led to more Humanism and modern culture. Dante is not only an icon of literature, but also very influential on medieval culture. He has masterfully described this in his famous works. Internationally, his works are still seen as the greatest literary masterpieces. Two coins of 2 Euro are mounted in this Coincard. One of these is the "normal" 2015 Italian 2 Euro coin. As is known, Dante is depicted on every "normal" 2 Euro of Italy. The second coin is the special 2 Euro coin "Dante". On the coin Dante is portrayed reading a book which he holds in his left hand. In the background you the Mountain of the Purgatory is depicted. The mountain of Purgatory is described in his works, and was also painted by Michelangelo. Furthermore, the text æDante AlighieriÆ is shown on the coin along with the letters RI (Repubblica Italiana). The years 1215 and 2015 are also printed, the 12 stars of Europe are also shown on the coin. The issue of this Coincard is only 15,000 copies. The quality of the coins is BU (Brilliant Uncirculated).
