Italy 2 Euro 2016 Donatello Proof

Following San Marino, Italy has also issued a special 2 Euro coin with the topic Donatello. In the year 2016 it was 550 years since the famous Italian sculptor Donatello died. Donatello worked almost all of his life in Florence and was a favourite of the influential Medici Family. On the coin is an image of the head of Donatello's æDavidÆ. This image is in the Bargello Museum in Florence. DonatelloÆs æDavidÆ looks to the right on the coin. To the left side of the coin is Donatello's birth year (1466) and the year of the coin (2016). At the bottom of the coin is the word DONATELLO is in uppercase letters. The Quality of this coin is Proof. The motif of this coin is the same as the coin in the coincard. The difference is that the quality is Proof, that is, this coin is struck with a special stamp. A Proof coin looks totally different from a coin of the quality BU or UNC. The coin is presented in a luxury package and is delivered with a certificate.
