Italy 2 Euro 2016 Donatello

We now have the 2016 special Italian 2 Euro æDonatelloÆ. This coin should not be confused with the 2016 special 2 Euro Donatello from San Marino released earlier this year which, of course, is still available from stock. In 2016 it was 550 years since the famous Italian sculptor Donatello died. Donatello worked almost all his life in Florence and was a favourite at the influential Medici Family. On the coin is an image of the head of Donatello's æDavidÆ. This image is in the Bargello Museum in Florence. Donatello's David looks right on the coin and on the left side of the coin are Donatello's birth year (1466) and the year of the coin (2016). At the bottom of the coin, the word æDonatelloÆ is printed in uppercase letters.
