In 2016 it has been 2,200 years since the famous comedy playwright Titus Maccius Plautus (about 251 BC - about 184 BC) died. Plautus was renowned for the powerful style of his humorous and vibrant work. His best-known work were written after he lost his money. By writing a number of funny and happy plays, that were very successful, he again earned a lot of money. On the coin a fragment of a comic play, a young woman with a slave, is depicted. This mosaic hangs in a museum in Rome. At the bottom of the coin are the years 184 ac (BC) and 2016 along with the name æPlautoÆ (Plautus).
