Latvia 2 Euro 2015 Black Stork Coloured

In 2015 the Latvian Association for Ornithology has existed for exactly 30 years. To celebrate this Latvia has issued a special 2 Euro coin with the theme of the æBlack StorkÆ. The Black Stork is not as famous as the White Stork and is a protected species. A Black Stork (Ciconia Nigra), unlike the White Stork finds its food more in woods and marshy areas. From the middle of April to the end of August the noise of the Storks is heard everywhere in Latvia. Latvia is not called the Stork's Land for nothing as no less than 5% of the Stork's total live in Latvia during summer. In winter the Storks migrate to Africa. On this special 2 Euro coin a beautifully coloured Stork on a coloured nest is depicted. Below is the country name Latvija (Latvia) and the year 2015 which are white in colour. In the outer circle of the coin are the 12 yellow stars of Europe. Around the edge of the coin the text æDIEVS SVETI LATVIJUÆ (God bless Latvia)is inscribed.
