Latvia 2 Euro 2016 Vidzeme Coincard
Latvia starts with a series of special Euro coins with the subject æa province of LatviaÆ. The reason that Latvia is issuing this series of coins is to acquaint the rest of Europe with the cultural and historical regions of Latvia. Latvia has four provinces: Vidzeme, Kurzeme, Zamgale and Latgale. The first in this series of coins concerns the Vidzeme region, this translates as æCentral Life LandÆ. The fourth and last currency will be issued in 2018 in conjunction with LatviaÆs 100 years independence. Vidzeme is Latvia's largest province at 23,000 square kilometres and lies in the middle of Latvia. Vidzeme is renowned for its beautiful landscape. In Vidzeme is Latvia's largest river (Gauja) and Latvia's highest mountain (GaizinÜ). More than half of Latvian people live in Vidzeme. On the coin is an image of Latvia's Coat of Arms. At the top of the coin the name Latija (Latvia) is shown while at the bottom is the name of the province of Vidzeme. On the right hand side of the coin is the year 2016. The edge of the coin is printed with DIEVS * SVETI * LATVIJU * - God bless Latvia. The coin is packed in a beautiful coincard. The quality of this coin is BU (Brilliant Uncirculated). On the front of the Coincard is a map of Latvia and on the back of the Coincard the coin is described in greater detail.
