Luxemburg 2 Euro 2015 Nassau Weilburg Dynasty

Luxembourg has issued this coin in connection with the 125th anniversary of the Nassau-Weilburg dynasty. The Dutch King Willem III was also a Grand Duke of Luxembourg. When King Willem III died in 1890, he could not be succeeded by Princess Wilhelmina in connection with the Salic Law, which allowed only a male succession. At that moment, the Dynasty Nassau-Weilburg originated with the first Grand Duke Adolphe. He was succeeded by William IV and because Salic Law was abolished, he was succeeded by Grand-Duchess Marie-Adélaide. Marie-Adélaide was succeeded by Grand-Duchess Charlotte who was followed by Grand Duke Jean. This was followed by the current Grand Duke of Henri in the year 2000. On the coin the images of the persons described above are depicted. On the left Grand Duke Henri is portrayed, the other Grand Duchess and grand Dukes are pictured on the right side of the coin. In a semicircle around the images of these people is the text "1890 Dynastie Nassau - Weilbourg". In the middle of the coin, in the F rench language, the country name Luxembourg is vertical. Next to this, also vertically is the year 2015. In the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated) and the issue in this quality is only 500,000 copies.
