In 2016 it is 500 years since the famous South Dutch painter Jheronimus Bosch, (modern name Jeroen Bosch), died. Jeroen Bosch was born as Jheronimus of Aachen but later changed his name to Bosch, as his hometown was Den Bosch. The works of Jeroen Bosch are characterized by satirical intricate performances, various of which are still not understood. Many of his works are painted on Baltic Oak. He painted not alone as it has been established that both left and right hand painters have collaborated on his works! Many of his works are well known and portray that man himself is responsible for his or her actions. This is visible on this special 10 euro coin. Fragments of four famous paintings, in a spiral, are depicted on the coin. These famous works are the Haywain, the Magician, the Garden of Desires and the Last Judgment. In the centre of the coin is an eye that is visible on the back of the coin as one eye of King Willem Alexander. On the face of the coin the value of five Euro and the name Jheronimus Bosch ar e also shown, along with the year 1516 being the year of his death. On the reverse of the coin King Willem Alexander is portrayed as a calm thinking man, shown as if in a mirror. The most rare Jeroen Bosch coin that we have available is the Gold 10 Euro. This is, of course, the most luxurious coin issued in this series of coins with the subject æJeroen BoschÆ. The issue of this coin is limited to a maximum of 1,250 copies! The coin is presented in a luxury wooden package. Of course, a numbered certificate is also supplied with this unique coin.
