The Battle of Waterloo took place on 18 June 1815. In the year 2015 it was 200 years ago that this battle took place and that is why this special coin was issued. The Battle of Waterloo is known as the most famous battle in modern history. It was the final defeat of Napoleon. The French army fought against an alliance of armies from Prussia, Hanover, England and the Netherlands. On the face of the coin is a æSteekÆ ( hat).
